Excited about the electric race to Berlin
Electric vehicles and range; I'm sure you've heard of them. The question I get asked the most at the charger is 'how far it can go'. Sometimes followed by another question about how long it takes to charge. I start laughing. Usually I'm ready to race on to the next charger. I tested Tesla's, Jaguars, Energica's and much more. Nothing can charge as fast as the Porsche Taycan. Are you joining us on the way to Berlin this weekend, flying across the Autobahn?
Racing day planning update (live July 21st)
Nobody charges faster than Porsche
It's funny that the electric driving conversation is often about range (and the anxiety that comes with it for some). For me, it has worked exactly the other way around since the very beginning: I'm looking forward to charging. That was already the case with the Jaguar I drove to Berlin in 2018. It was the fastest charging car in Europe at the time. Last year I took the Tesla Model 3 with me to Berlin. Which charges over twice as fast as the Jaguar.
This summer promises to be even more spectacular: no one charges faster than the Porsche Taycan, which I'll be taking to Berlin from next Saturday, July 18. If you plug this racing car in at the right moment, the secret weapon of the Taycan will appear. Five minutes later you've “refueled” enough for the next 100 swift kilometers.
Ten seconds to 200 km/h
How many stories I've had to read about the 0-100 of the Porsche. A Tesla can do it faster. Yeah, so what? That's when it starts! Ten seconds to 200 km/h. That's the Porsche Taycan. No, not the very popular slower 4S version. I (unexpectedly) won’t drive that one either! One of the most beautiful bad-news-emails of my life last week: that I had to do it with the Turbo S anyway.
Are you coming along for the ride?
#Taycan2Berlin
Tuesday, July 21st is going to be really exciting. We will drive from Berlin back to Amsterdam and everything will revolve around the perfect charging strategy and the right speed. Will you follow us every step of the way at Polarsteps? Of course you can also keep an eye on the ride through Instagram, Twitter and facebook. See you at the fast charger!
