IONITY presenting their summer 2024 offering: Lower Prices!

Finally. When mentioning IONITY online, “price” will be mentioned soon after. And mostly, not with a positive ring. Now, this has been a mismatch with reality for a while, because in markets like Spain, France, Norway and Germany (together good for pretty much half of all IONITY plugs in Europe) prices have gone down a long time ago already. Yet IONITY is present in most of Europe, and for almost all of you, today brings good news!

Price drop

Some will be aware that just weeks ago there was a big change in the IONITY Munich HQ, known for running Tesla Superchargers Europe, Jeroen van Tilburg is now in charge. I would expect today’s announcement to have been in the works for a while, but as Superchargers around Europe have become in many places some of the more affordable fast charging options, it only makes sense for Jeroen to go down this path with IONITY as well. The competition is here!

Starting tomorrow, IONITY 350 kW fast charging will be available in Norway from as low as € 0,26/kWh

This is thanks to IONITY offering two subscriptions from the 28th of May. The existing PASSPORT will now be sold as PASSPORT MOTION (€ 5,99/month). The new option for heavy travelers like myself, PASSPORT POWER (€ 11,99/month).

The New Normal: Affordable Fast Charging

What I love about this move is the incentive, clearly IONITY wants to combine the power of subscriptions together with the power of their network. Together with Tesla they are the only CPO in the business that can power your roadtrips from Norway to Spain and back. Thanks to the new PASSPORT POWER a subscription could suddenly be worthwhile even when you’re not traveling at all, especially because IONITY is building charger parks like the ones in Oslo much closer to residential areas.

A word from IONITY

“We’re excited to announce the launch of our two new price plans, designed to make EV charging more affordable and accessible for everyone! With more plugs available and competitive rates, we aim to be our customers' preferred companion for electric travel across Europe.”

Jeroen van Tilburg, CEO IONITY

Thanks Jeroen, for this statement! It’s become a tradition that every year there seems to be a pretty good travel deal around, and from the looks of it, thanks to many local players, but also some of the big ones now, affordable fast charging could be here to stay!

Wish you all an amazing summer, and yes, the newsletter will make a comeback soon ;-)
